I've noticed a few weird things happening recently with one of my sites where I push a lot of Amazon baby seats (Britax car seats).  The site always ranked on the 1st page for all of the Britax car seat keywords and just recently I fell back to pages 7 to 10 on Google SERPs.  BuyBritax.com has all orginal content on it and there's only 1 outbound link to the Amazon product.  I started to notice a drop in traffic and sales everytime Google slapped the site.    The site would dissappear from the SERPs for a few days, then come back as if nothing happened.  This happened a few times and now it's completely dropped to the lower SERPs.   The other weird thing is now that Google dropped my site off the 1st page, Yahoo and MSN has picked it up and now the site ranks high on for Britax car seat related keywords.  The traffic of Yahoo and MSN combined is nowhere near the amount of traffic I used to get with Google.  Hopefully Google will find it in their hearts to bring my site back to the 1st page. :)

Gone again..

Ok, I'm not sure what Google is doing, but the site was on the 1st page of the Google SERPs for 4 days, and then dissappeared again.   From 4/16 to 4/19, the site ranked high for my keywords, now they're gone.  <shrug>

Google is in fact penalizing...

..sites with profanity.  It turns out my site was spammed in the comment section with all sorts of outbound links to porn and dating sites.  After I removed the comments and disabled comments, the site is back on the 1st page of the Google SERP. HoOray!
